When you are ready to get back to the basics
At First Christian Church that the best gift we can offer the people of today is a warm and intimate church family experience rooted in the best values of the past and a timeless faith.
That experience has three expressions: Worship, Bible Study, and Prayer
Worship at 10:55 to Noon--Our worship service is intimate and combines reverence with informality. We believe families should worship together, and that worship should especially address the needs of the very old and the very young. This is why we blend traditional hymns with simple praise songs, and why there are elements of the service (such as the Lord's Prayer) that are easily memorized. We offer the Lord's Supper weekly to anyone who opens their heart to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and parents are encouraged to be the ones who prepare their children to participate in this observance. Our services are fairly short, and the preaching is based on the Bible, clearly, thoughtfully, and interestingly explained. Visitors to worship are not asked to give personal information. Although you will definitely be greeted, your personal space and needs will be respected
Bible Study from 9:45 to 10:30--Instead of a Sunday School program, we offer a Pastor's Bible Study class that is open to all ages and which meets in the sanctuary. We use no textbook but the Bible itself, and we approach the Bible with both reverence and a willingness to ask questions (sometimes the difficult ones, sometimes the funny ones, sometimes the inspiring ones). If you have never sat in an intimate setting with a gifted Bible Teacher, this is a great opportunity for you!
There is a children's sermon during worship every Sunday. Parents are given the responsibility to discern when their own children are ready to take communion.
Prayer--Ours is a church that believes in the importance of prayer. We have a list of prayer requests that is updated in the weekly bulletin. People are encouraged to share other prayer requests briefly during worship. There is a Saturday prayer service that meets in the fellowship hall.
