Put yourself where God can get your attention!
(not where things are so busy and noisy that He can't get a word in)

Nestled on the corner of 4th and Burleson in the Historic district of Smithville, possibly the most picturesque town in the heart of Texas, the sanctuary of First Christian Church is an expression of our mission--simplicity and thoughtfulness on a Biblical foundation.
Most churches declare that "all are welcome".   At our church we commit to you in three ways:  1. We will welcome you.  You will know from the outset that your visit is special to us, and that our great desire is to draw near to God along with you.   2. We will respect you.  We will not ask you for your personal data, nor will we pressure you to make commitments you are not ready for.   3. We will not overwhelm you.   You will find things at First Christian are simple and easy to follow, with elements that are both familiar and fresh.

Weekly Activities

Sunday Morning Worship
10:55 AM
Our worship is a blend of informality and reverence, of traditional and down-home.  The Lord's Supper is offered weekly to all, and the messages are both clear and interesting.

Bible Study, Sundays 9:45-10:40
This pastor's Bible study in the sanctuary is open to all ages. We use only the Bible and engage in lively, loving, and focused discussion.

Weekly prayer
Most Saturdays from 5 -6 PM we meet at the church for prayer.  Send a note through the contact form if you would like to join us.

What we believe

In 1809 Thomas Campbell, a founder of the Christian Churches in the United States, wrote the following: . That the Church of Christ upon earth is essentially, intentionally, and constitutionally one; consisting of all those in every place that profess their faith in Christ and obedience to him in all things according to the Scriptures, and that manifest the same by their tempers and conduct.
This statement is a good summary of our belief.
